About Us

Covenstead Candle Company is an independent, handcrafted business owned and operated by Dodie Graham McKay—a witch, author, and filmmaker. Each spell candle is made in tune with lunar and seasonal cycles, using carefully selected natural ingredients to support intention, magic, and personal ritual.

Dodie began crafting these candles as a creative outlet and a way to share her love of handmade magic—working with herbs, resins, and stones. The business was sparked by her book, Earth Magic: The Elements of Witchcraft, with the first signature candle, Earth Magic, inspired by the writing process itself.

Meet the Maker
Dodie is a green witch and filmmaker with a passion for exploring magic, nature, and storytelling. She is the author of Earth Magic: The Elements of Witchcraft (Llewellyn, 2021) and the upcoming A Witch’s Ally: Building a Magical Relationship with Animal Familiars & Companions (Llewellyn, 2024). Her documentary work includes The WinniPagans, Starry Nights, and Exploring the Sacred.

She lives in Treaty One Territory, Homeland of the Métis Nation—Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
